Described a “young mallet master” by JazzTimes, Sasha Berliner is an award winning vibraphonist and composer based in Los Angeles, CA. The Downbeat Critics Poll #1 Rising Star Vibraphonist and NPR Jazz Night in America’s Class of 2024 Youngbloods pick has notably shared the stage for recent projects with Christian McBride, Tyshawn Sorey, Marcus Gilmore, Justin Brown, and Cecile Mclorin Salvant, and leads her own quintet for international touring. She is also a faculty member at University of California Irvine and a frequent lecturing guest of California Institute for the Arts, both for jazz ensemble and composition courses.

The hr-Bigband is today one of the world's finest ensembles of its kind. Rooted in the ideals of jazz performance, it represents a wide range of styles and genres. The hr-Bigband unites seventeen outstanding musicians, who are not only highly respected as soloists. Daily rehearsals or concert performances and the highest artistic standards shape them into an ensemble that meets all challenges with confidence. The hr-Bigband regularly explores the possibilities of a contemporary jazz orchestra and transcends stylistic boundaries — for example, by developing new projects together with Mongolian or North African musicians, pop stars, or renowned composers of contemporary classical music. At the same time — far from being a museum piece — it keeps the great tradition of big band jazz alive, with programs ranging from Jelly Roll Morton to Duke Ellington, Gil Evans, and Peter Herbolzheimer.

Von der JazzTimes als „junge Meisterin des Malletspiels“ beschrieben, ist Sasha Berliner eine preisgekrönte Vibraphonistin und Komponistin mit Wohnsitz in Los Angeles, Kalifornien. Als Nummer 1 der Rising Stars in der Kategorie Vibraphon bei der DownBeat Critics Poll und ausgewählt für NPR Jazz Night in America’s Class of 2024 Youngbloods, stand sie zuletzt mit Größen wie Christian McBride, Tyshawn Sorey, Marcus Gilmore, Justin Brown und Cecile McLorin Salvant auf der Bühne. Darüber hinaus leitet sie ihr eigenes Quintett, mit dem sie international tourt. Sasha Berliner ist außerdem Dozentin an der University of California Irvine und regelmäßig als Gastdozentin am California Institute for the Arts tätig – sowohl im Bereich Jazzensemble als auch in Kompositionskursen.
